You smell SOOOOO good!

Who doesn’t love to hear that?  Everyone loves to smell good and I have found a way to do it without breaking the bank.  Why do the best smelling colognes/perfumes cost so much?  I don’t know about you, but I don’t have $60-$100 to spend on scents all the time.  There are so many scents, you can literally go broke trying to keep up – well now that’s not a problem.

Have you heard of Scent Bird?  It’s a subscription scent service that cost $14.95 per month for a 30 day supply.  They average 4 sprays a day to equal a 30 day supply.  This is a way for you to try some of the most luxurious and expensive brands for only $15. There is no charge for shipping. I was all in when I found out about this site.

Scentbirdme

How does it work? You go to www.scentbird.com for ladies or  www.scentbird.com/men for men and sign up for a subscription and take a quiz to find out what scents you would like. You can pick one fragrance or load up your queue for months (you can change the order that you receive the scent before you are charged for it).  They charge your credit card on the 5th of each month and ship on the 15th.

I love the packaging – it comes in a velvet bag.  There is a black perfume case that holds the vial containing the scent.  You twist the case at the bottom and the vial comes up just like a tube of lipstick.  If you twist the opposite direction, the vial goes back into the case. How convenient is that?  This ensures that you don’t end of wasting fragrance everywhere and makes traveling with your scents a breeze.

I chose Gucci Premiere as my first scent.  I love sexy and musky scents.  This scent falls under the Musk category was well as Woodsy so I knew I would like it. The vials contain the actual scent – these are not copies or knock offs. This is a picture of what the actual bottle looks like.  The other great thing about this service is if you decide you want to purchase the full size of the scent your subscription price will be applied toward the cost and you pay the remainder.  Now THAT’S a deal.

I can’t wait for next month’s scent.  I think I might have hubby buy me a couple more scents for Mother’s Day.  You can buy the scents ala carte for $16.95 with $3.00 for shipping. It ships within 48 hours. You will get it in 7-10 days. You can only buy additional cases for $12.95 and they come in 7 more colors.

The best part of this is that when you first join, you get a discount. It’s like a “welcome to the family” from one member to another. Current members share their discount link with people that want to join. It’s a win-win because current members can earn free scents when people subscribe.  New members get a FREE fragrance on their 2nd month subscription, how cool is that?

So for anyone that wants to join the scent party called Scent Bird, here is my code: https://www.scentbird.com/r/d/patriciajackson2.

Let’s talk scents everyone.  If you are a member of Scent Bird, tell me what you like about it and what scents you have tried.  If you want to join, click the link above and let me know that you’ve joined and what your first fragrance will be.

Carmella Marie

I was sent products to review by Carmella Marie a couple of weeks ago.  Carmella Marie is an organic natural hair company.  She has 4 categories of products on her site: Repair Team, Restore Team, Flax seed Based Products and Body.  I was sent the Treasure Natural Styling Cream and the Honey and Hibiscus Deep Conditioner.

I put these products to the test because I had been sick and not able to wash my hair as frequently as I usually do.  My hair had been in 2 twists going around the perimeter of my head for days. I don’t even want to say how many days but my hair was filthy.

I washed my hair and then applied the deep conditioner. The consistency of the deep conditioner was like a souffle.  Very fluffy. It smelled great, a nice floral scent. I  could tell the deep conditioner was doing something good because my curls started to form.  I placed a shower cap on my head and watched TV for 20 minutes.

I rinsed the deep conditioner out and applied my leave-in conditioner, the Treasure Styling Cream and my hair gel.

The styling cream was thick but was able to penetrate the hair nicely. It contains Vitamin E, Olive Oil and Shea Butter.

This is the result after the styling cream and gel was applied.

I’m happy with the results.  My hair felt moisturized and my curls were definitely popping.

I did experience a little more shrinkage with this but that was only because my curls were so defined and tight.  I would say great curls are a nice payoff for a little shrinkage.

I would recommend her products because of the natural ingredients. You know you are doing something good for your hair when you use them.  These products are not just for women with tightly curled or kinky/coily hair.  Anyone that needs more moisture in their hair would benefit from using these products.

Have you used her products yet? If so, which ones and what were your results?

Lilly Lashes

I am a HUGE Shah’s of Sunset fan.  I love all of the opulence and glamour of the stars of this show.  The men are beautiful and the women are breathtaking.  Their wardrobe and make up are always flawless.  One of the break out stars was Lilly Ghalichi.  Some people called her “Persian Barbie” because she looked like a living doll.  Everything about Lilly was over-the-top from her teeny tiny waist, to her hair, to her makeup and to her nails.

She came out with an eyelash line that is coveted by a large following of celebs and eyelash lovers across the globe.  Her lash line contains a Luxury Collection and 3-D Mink lashes and they ship WORLDWIDE!!!!

I decided to try her lashes during a huge sale last month.   I bought Milan and LA for $8.99 each.  Shipping was $5.99 so my total was $23.97 which is totally a score for celebrity lashes.

Her packaging is the bomb dot com.  I know some people think that packaging is bulky but I love it.  I hold it up there with collecting perfume bottles and displaying them.  The one thing I noticed immediately is that her lashes are SOOOOO lightweight. I’m talking featherweight.  I dropped one off of the tweezers twice because it was so light.  This translates into a very comfortable lash that you don’t even realize you are wearing.

LA is a very natural looking lash.  I wanted something I could wear to work. Here is LA:

Milan gave me a hint of va va voom for the office but was still work appropriate. Here is Milan:

The 2 that I purchased are not currently on the website.  Not sure if it’s because it’s sold out or if that was a clearance sale on those items.

I prefer my lashes to have more of a curled effect instead of flaring out and up.  So I need to get some of her other lashes for that look. I was mainly trying something safe before spending $20 or $30 on lashes. You know I’m a bargain shopper so I will always wait for a sale before purchasing.  She always has sales and has one going on right now.  Use the code “WEEKENDGLAM” to receive 10% (sale ends Sunday).  She is also giving away a free lash applicator was every order.  How cute is that???? It’s pink, I LOVE it!!!!

I have no complaints: shipping was fast and huge variety to choose from.

Here is the information on how you can stay in the know.  Like Lilly says it’s “more than just lashes, they’re a lifestyle.”

House of Lashes

I know some of you are like “Seriously? Another lash blog?”  My answer is “YES!!!”  Do you know how many companies make falsies?  I could blog weekly for months and still have content to share.

This week’s blog is on the fabulous House of Lashes.  Their philosophy is “Quality is Queen”.  House of Lashes is founded by a beauty and fashion expert.  She spent 4 years researching lashes across the globe before choosing the top 10 most flattering styles for every eye shape. Their lashes are hand crafted using 100% sterilized premium human hair. They have 4 collections:Au Naturale, Flirty, Glam, and Premium Luxe (which showcases lashes made of cruelty-free synthetic fibers).  They also sell individual lashes, bottom lashes, custom 3 packs and lash accessories.

I bought the Custom 3 Pack of the Best Sellers: http://houseoflashes.com/collections/custom-3-pack/products/best-sellers-custom-3-pack.  There are 8 best sellers in the collection but I chose: Heartbreaker, Au Naturale and Temptress Wispy.  By now you know that I LOVE a Wispy lash – it gives me my whole entire life. The lash holder case doesn’t tell you what the lashes are so as long as you keep them in their decorative boxes, you will know which lashes are which.

Here is Heartbreaker (a dense lash in places with some whispiness):

Next is Au Naturale (extremely natural lash):

Last but not least is Temptress Wispy (LOTS of wispiness!):

Shockingly, I think I liked the Au Naturale the most.  I could not believe it myself.  It’s such a realistic looking lash. Don’t get me wrong, the wispy and thicker lashes were the bomb but it was something about that super natural-looking lash that just did it for me.

I purchased these during a sale on the Custom 3 Pack.  They were $22 dollars but I used a coupon code so after shipping my total was $20.60.  Not bad for lashes from a lash house – totally worth the investment.  They also have free shipping for orders over $25. They have sooooo many different styles and collections to choose from. There is something for everyone.   Check out the cases that they sell to hold your lashes – GORGE!!!!: http://houseoflashes.com/collections/accessories
