Mielle Organics Honey and Ginger Styling Gel

As an aspiring YouTuber, I do a lot of videos using many products. I have been a fan of Mielle Organics for a couple of years but I have been doing a lot of videos using products that I currently have or have been gifted.

In doing this, my hair has been ravaged.  My hair had been very dry lately and the product was not being absorbed. I would do videos and apply conditioner and could still see the conditioner sitting in parts of my hair.  From that moment it was just downhill for any other product applied after that.

So today I washed my hair and used the Mielle Organics Leave In Conditioner, Mint Almond Oil and Avocado Hair Milk.  My styler of choice was the Honey and Ginger Styling Gel.

This gel hasn’t been on the market that long but people are really excited about it due to its ingredients.  This is the list of ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin*, Honey*, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Acrylates Copolymer, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Orbignya Oleifera (Babassu) Seed Oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Maltodextrin/VP Copolymer, Marshmallow Extract, Pectin, Parfum (Fragrance), Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol.  Honey is the 3rd ingredient.

Here are the results of my hair once I was done styling:

This is my hair dry.  You can see the shrinkage is minimal:

The consistency is more like a lotion but I love that it doesn’t make your hair crunchy.

Your hair is still soft after it dries.  It’s good to know that you can feel good about what you are putting on your hair.  The gel is now available at Sally Beauty Supply but it’s hard to find because it’s flying off the shelves as quick as it’s restocked.  If you don’t see it there, you can purchase from their website:  https://mielleorganics.com/products/honey-ginger-styling-gel?variant=21857873733

Mielle Organics can be purchased at Target, Sally Beauty Supply, CVS and other retail locations.  You can find a retailer near you on their website by typing in your zip code: https://mielleorganics.com/apps/store-locator

Have you tried Mielle Organics?  What’s your favorite product?  Do you have questions about the products and how to use them?  Let me know – I have every product in their line.

Carmella Marie

I was sent products to review by Carmella Marie a couple of weeks ago.  Carmella Marie is an organic natural hair company.  She has 4 categories of products on her site: Repair Team, Restore Team, Flax seed Based Products and Body.  I was sent the Treasure Natural Styling Cream and the Honey and Hibiscus Deep Conditioner.

I put these products to the test because I had been sick and not able to wash my hair as frequently as I usually do.  My hair had been in 2 twists going around the perimeter of my head for days. I don’t even want to say how many days but my hair was filthy.

I washed my hair and then applied the deep conditioner. The consistency of the deep conditioner was like a souffle.  Very fluffy. It smelled great, a nice floral scent. I  could tell the deep conditioner was doing something good because my curls started to form.  I placed a shower cap on my head and watched TV for 20 minutes.

I rinsed the deep conditioner out and applied my leave-in conditioner, the Treasure Styling Cream and my hair gel.

The styling cream was thick but was able to penetrate the hair nicely. It contains Vitamin E, Olive Oil and Shea Butter.

This is the result after the styling cream and gel was applied.

I’m happy with the results.  My hair felt moisturized and my curls were definitely popping.

I did experience a little more shrinkage with this but that was only because my curls were so defined and tight.  I would say great curls are a nice payoff for a little shrinkage.

I would recommend her products because of the natural ingredients. You know you are doing something good for your hair when you use them.  These products are not just for women with tightly curled or kinky/coily hair.  Anyone that needs more moisture in their hair would benefit from using these products.

Have you used her products yet? If so, which ones and what were your results?

Koils by Nature

Todays’ blog is highlighting Koils by Nature which is the company of Pamela J. Booker. Her goal was to provide her customers with exceptional, high quality, all natural hair and skin care products at an affordable price. Every ingredient is derived from nature and includes natural butters, oils, and certified organic essential oils. Her products do not contain parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, phthalates, propylene glycol, mineral oil, PBA, petroleum, paraffin DEA, synthetic color or animal products. Now THAT was a mouthful.

I bought a sample pack since I had never used her products before. To me, sample packs are a great way to get multiple products and see how a line works. I bought the Soothing Herbal Eucalyptus and Lavender Sample Pack for $25. The pack contains: Moisturizing Shaeloe Leave In Conditioner, Hydrating Shaeloe Creamy Conditioner, Nourishing Hair & Body Butter of your choice and Soothing Herbal Gel of your choice. These were 2 ounce sizes so that gives you enough for a couple of applications (on the average). It was sent in a beautiful brown organza bag.

I decided to co-wash using the Shaeloe Leave In Conditioner. I then deep conditioned for about 30-40 minutes with the Hydrating Shaeloe Creamy Conditioner and then I used the Shaeloe Leave In Conditioner again (as my leave-in this time).  The picture below shows my hair with the Hydrating Shaeloe Creamy Conditioner rinsed out and the Shaeloe Leave In Conditioner applied.

Pamela has a loyal following and her conditioners have been a holy grail staple of many naturals for years. Her Shaeloe Leave In Conditioner has been lovingly called the new “Creamy Crack” for years and has developed a cult following.

The conditioners did leave my hair soft and it aided with detangling.

I then used the Herbal Soothing Curl Defining Gel – I choose the Eucalyptus and Lavender fragrance. All of her products have a great fragrance and upon layering the products, none clashed with each other.

I have low porosity hair at my temples which means its dryer and frizzier than the rest of my hair. The hair there is also harder of hold a curl. I attempted a WashnGo using her products. They did well but I did have to use Eco Styler gel in the low porosity spots. I regretted that the next day because it left me with hard curls while the hair that had Pamela’s products only was still soft. Shoulda left well enough alone, right????  But the rest of my hair was bangin!!!!!

I did not use the butter because I wanted to save that for my body – why should my hair get all the fun?
I achieved 3 day curls using her products and it might have lasted longer, but I had to wash my hair.

My final thoughts???? You have GOT to try the products just for the conditioner alone.  That conditioner is legendary.  Yes, there are a zillion conditioners on the market, but how many are botanically made, creamy and provides good slip??? Koils by Nature also provides products in TEN different fragrances including “unscented” so there is something for everyone.  They also have a membership program where you can purchase a membership for $45 and save money all year on products purchases, be first to find out about new products and receive discounts for Koils by Nature events.  Once you become a member you can reapply at a discounted price the following  year.
