Mielle Organics Honey and Ginger Styling Gel

As an aspiring YouTuber, I do a lot of videos using many products. I have been a fan of Mielle Organics for a couple of years but I have been doing a lot of videos using products that I currently have or have been gifted.

In doing this, my hair has been ravaged.  My hair had been very dry lately and the product was not being absorbed. I would do videos and apply conditioner and could still see the conditioner sitting in parts of my hair.  From that moment it was just downhill for any other product applied after that.

So today I washed my hair and used the Mielle Organics Leave In Conditioner, Mint Almond Oil and Avocado Hair Milk.  My styler of choice was the Honey and Ginger Styling Gel.

This gel hasn’t been on the market that long but people are really excited about it due to its ingredients.  This is the list of ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin*, Honey*, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Acrylates Copolymer, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Orbignya Oleifera (Babassu) Seed Oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Maltodextrin/VP Copolymer, Marshmallow Extract, Pectin, Parfum (Fragrance), Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol.  Honey is the 3rd ingredient.

Here are the results of my hair once I was done styling:

This is my hair dry.  You can see the shrinkage is minimal:

The consistency is more like a lotion but I love that it doesn’t make your hair crunchy.

Your hair is still soft after it dries.  It’s good to know that you can feel good about what you are putting on your hair.  The gel is now available at Sally Beauty Supply but it’s hard to find because it’s flying off the shelves as quick as it’s restocked.  If you don’t see it there, you can purchase from their website:  https://mielleorganics.com/products/honey-ginger-styling-gel?variant=21857873733

Mielle Organics can be purchased at Target, Sally Beauty Supply, CVS and other retail locations.  You can find a retailer near you on their website by typing in your zip code: https://mielleorganics.com/apps/store-locator

Have you tried Mielle Organics?  What’s your favorite product?  Do you have questions about the products and how to use them?  Let me know – I have every product in their line.

World Natural Hair Show

I attended the World Natural Hair Show in my hometown of Atlanta a couple of weeks ago.  This event is sponsored by Taliah Waajid and draws crowds from around the country.  This is a party for everyone that makes products, sells products, and wears natural products.  It’s a celebration of natural hair.  Natural hair doesn’t just mean afros and locs.  It’s a celebration of embracing your curls and coils no matter what your nationality and ethnic background is.  It’s a place to find all natural hair products for however you wear your hair and whatever your hair type is. And yes, when in Rome, dress as the Romans.  The Natural Diva was ready to see and be seen.

I go to this event every year to meet the CEOs of my favorite hair products and buy the items I want at a discounted show price.  If you don’t have a favorite brand this is the opportunity to get samples so you can see what works for you.  You never know what celebrities you will meet because often the who’s who in entertainment are in the building with the brands they love.

This year, unfortunately, I was rushed and didn’t get to spend the time that I wanted just hanging out and meeting people.  My main objective was to stock up on products from my favorite brand, The Mane Choice http://themanechoice.com/, and to meet the CEO, Courtney Adeleye. Once that was accomplished, I was free to look around and meet more Curlfriends and product makers.

Another friend of mine in the natural hair community is Monique Rodriguez, CEO of Mielle Organics http://www.mielleorganics.com/.  Monique had celebrity hairstylist and TV personality Angela C. Styles on the platform educating everyone about how to apply her products. Monique is one of those people you meet once and you have an instant connection.

I was over-the-moon delighted to finally meet CEO Scarlett Rocourt.  She is the maker of Wonder Curl products: https://www.wondercurl.com/.  Her all natural line of products was one of the first natural lines that I used when becoming a new natural. Scarlett holds a special place in my heart.

Just about every time I go to a hair show I run into the CEO of Mixed Chicks, Kim Etheredge.  Her products are legendary and she is always so sweet when you talk to her. http://www.mixedchicks.net/

I did not have time enough to walk the entire floor and buy more products. I did not take floor pics like a should have.  Some vendors had amazing displays.  Shea Moisture had their own mini store built inside of the expo.  Camille Rose also had a store built inside of the building.  It was awesome to see the creativity of the different brands and how they drew you into their space with creative marketing.  I did meet some You Tubers and other Curlfriends there and enjoyed myself but for an expo like this, you need at least 4 hours.  That’s just me.  I’m a people person and connection maker.  I love to talk and get to know people and meet new people.  You can never know too many people.

Next year I will definitely go both days.  I heard some vendors had even bigger sales on Sunday.  I was kicking myself in the butt for not getting a 2 day ticket.  Next time, I promise a more detailed report and more pictures.  I have a few more pics on my Instagram page @pjacksone. The World Natural Hair Show is held in different cities but Atlanta is, of course, one of the biggest shows.  You can find out more by going to their website: http://www.naturalhair.org/

And the gift goes to . . . . . . . . me!!!!

Ok, we all know it’s the most wonderful time of the year, right? It’s all about the spirit of spreading joy and most people do that with gifts.

My question for you is: how many of you used Black Friday and Cyber Monday to shop for YOU???  Yes, I said for you.  As a wife and mother, we are programmed to tend to others first.  I think this might have been the FIRST holiday shopping weekend that I devoted to ME.

Well, I must admit that my first Christmas purchase was not me, it was for my mother-in-law.  I bought her a beautiful gift set from Wax and Lather (an artisan soap, toiletries and candle company). I bought a couple of soaps so I could test the products and then bought the gift set for my mother-in-law.  I will post the company information below and do a blog on the gift set and soap soon.

I will also add that I did ask hubby what he wanted for Christmas and he said cologne.  Did he tell me what kind? NO!  I asked him twice during the busy holiday shopping weekend and he never gave me an answer.  He only said that he would let me know. So since I am not a psychic or mind-reader, I decided to shop for me.

This year I decided that I want hair products for Christmas.  So I decided to try a brand that I have not tried before.  This brand is one of the hottest brands in the industry and the buzz has been nothing but positive.  What brand did I choose?: Mielle Organics!!! This company has grown by leaps and bounds since 2014 and I HAD to see what the buzz was about.  On Black Friday, I bought one of the Healthy Hair Regimen Pack 1 that included hair vitamins, shampoo, deep conditioner, co-wash, and mint almond oil.  On Cyber Monday, I bought the hair milk and leave-in conditioner.  I will be doing a blog on these products very soon.  I tried the items that I got on Black Friday and I must say I am pleased and can’t wait to get the rest of the products to use together.

I decided to buy for me so I could let hubby know what I wanted him to buy me for Christmas.  Why not get what you want, right? I have no problem telling him “this is what I want”.  We decided to do this a few years ago, just stop beating around the bush and say what you want.  Does that spoil the surprise? NO!!!! If it’s something I want, I’m a happy camper.

I bring this topic up to ask the question: how many of you feel guilty for buying for yourself first?  Why do you feel guilty? I have reached a stage in my life, where I finally realized that I need to treat myself.  Sometimes, I need to put myself first.  We are so used to giving and giving to others and by the time we think about ourselves, we have nothing left to give.

I don’t feel guilty one bit. Do I still have to shop for hubby? Yes! Do I still have to shop for my son? Yes!  I’m OK with that.  It’s about taking the time to stop for a minute during this busy holiday season and just take a moment for yourself.  There is nothing wrong with doing that.  So spill the tea . . . what have you bought for yourself already????
