Mielle Organics Honey and Ginger Styling Gel

As an aspiring YouTuber, I do a lot of videos using many products. I have been a fan of Mielle Organics for a couple of years but I have been doing a lot of videos using products that I currently have or have been gifted.

In doing this, my hair has been ravaged.  My hair had been very dry lately and the product was not being absorbed. I would do videos and apply conditioner and could still see the conditioner sitting in parts of my hair.  From that moment it was just downhill for any other product applied after that.

So today I washed my hair and used the Mielle Organics Leave In Conditioner, Mint Almond Oil and Avocado Hair Milk.  My styler of choice was the Honey and Ginger Styling Gel.

This gel hasn’t been on the market that long but people are really excited about it due to its ingredients.  This is the list of ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin*, Honey*, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Acrylates Copolymer, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Orbignya Oleifera (Babassu) Seed Oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Maltodextrin/VP Copolymer, Marshmallow Extract, Pectin, Parfum (Fragrance), Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol.  Honey is the 3rd ingredient.

* CERTIFIED ORGANIC INGREDIENTS.

Here are the results of my hair once I was done styling:

This is my hair dry.  You can see the shrinkage is minimal:

IMG_0542[1]

The consistency is more like a lotion but I love that it doesn’t make your hair crunchy.

Your hair is still soft after it dries.  It’s good to know that you can feel good about what you are putting on your hair.  The gel is now available at Sally Beauty Supply but it’s hard to find because it’s flying off the shelves as quick as it’s restocked.  If you don’t see it there, you can purchase from their website:  https://mielleorganics.com/products/honey-ginger-styling-gel?variant=21857873733

Mielle Organics can be purchased at Target, Sally Beauty Supply, CVS and other retail locations.  You can find a retailer near you on their website by typing in your zip code: https://mielleorganics.com/apps/store-locator

Have you tried Mielle Organics?  What’s your favorite product?  Do you have questions about the products and how to use them?  Let me know – I have every product in their line.

My Chanel perfume collection

Hi all!!!!

I sooooo apologize for not blogging lately.  I have been grinding out content on my YouTube channel (pjacksone).

I have been an avid Chanel fan as of late.  I have been tired of smelling like only roses or only flowers or just flowers and amber. I’m tired of flat scents with only 2 or 3 facets to them.  The Chanel fragrances are very complex and sophisticated.  When you wear them you have to allow them to breathe and warm up on your skin.  What it smells like in the bottle is going to be different than how it smells on a card.  It will also smell different on your skin than what it smells like on the card so you must try them out before buying.

So, I went to Ulta recently and bought Chanel No. 5 Eau Premier and Chanel Coco.  I also got 2 samples of Chanel No. 5 L’Eau.

20170116_1725001

I want to start going to the Macy’s Chanel counter from now on or Nordstrom to get the personalized experience from the sales associates.  A great sales associate can really lead and guide you into the perfect perfume buying experience AND you get samples!!!!

Chanel No. 5 Eau Premier notes: jasmine (from Chanel’s own fields), rose absolute, ylang-ylang, sandalwood, vanilla and vetiver.  It’s similar to the original without the suffocating punch. You get the powdery fragrance without the heaviness.

Chanel Coco notes: coriander, mandarin orange, peach, jasmine, Bulgarian rose, mimosa, cloves, orange blossom, clover, rose, amber, sandalwood, tonka bean and vanilla.  Yikes, that’s a lot. But this is why I said that the fragrance needs to develop over time and how sophisticated it is.

Chanel No.5 L’Eau notes: lemon, mandarin orange, neroli, rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine, cedar and white musk.  This is another great fragrance to try if you are trying to work your way up to the original No. 5 fragrance without the heaviness of the original.

I plan to get the original No. 5 next and Coco Noir.  Valentine’s Day is around the corner and I want to let hubby get me the original No. 5 for a gift.  I do feel that I need to get a sample and wear it for a few days first so I can get accustomed to the smell and give the scent time to transform before purchasing.

Have you tried any Chanel scents? Do you have a collection? Let me know what you like and don’t like or what you think I should buy next.

You can also buy Chanel scents directly from their website: http://www.chanel.com/en_US/fragrance-beauty/fragrance-88106

Tree Dazzler Deluxe Christmas Tree Lights

Why was I watching an infomercial recently and saw this on TV?  I was amazed but skeptical.  For $40 this promised to light up your tree to make it look like a professional did it.  So since I had not put my tree up yet, I thought “why not?”  You know that the WORST part of decorating the tree is the lights so this seemed like an answer to a dream.

I went on YouTube first and looked at a video and was pleased with what I saw and decided to buy.  When I did a google search I saw that HSN had the same item for the same price BUT they had easy pay so you could split the payment in two.  I did go ahead and pay the $40 lump sum payment.

I took some still shots so you could see how it looked.

Just as they mentioned, you take it out and plug it in and you are ready to go.  It really can’t get any easier.

Here is the video from HSN’s YouTube channel showing the demonstration of how it works: https://youtu.be/Q5Evg39z-HM

When I tell you that this was the best $40 I have spent in a while, I am so serious.  It made decorating the tree so much easier because if you had gaps you didn’t have to worry because the size of the lights would fill in the gaps.

The lights have 3 modes: still mode, shimmer mode and show mode.  Each mode has corresponding colors that show in that mode. I keep mine on show mode which gives a continuous flash of multiple colors constantly.

I ordered it Nov 25th and it shipped Nov 29th so I had it in about 1 week. If you are tired of struggling with lights, you MUST have this.  HSN is currently doing easy pay on THREE payments and it’s now $50 – I guess they are trying to give people’s pockets a break from Christmas shopping.  Here is the link to their site if you would like to purchase or just find out more information: https://www.hsn.com/products/tree-dazzler-deluxe-christmas-tree-lights/8205253

The official Tree Dazzler website still has it for $40 but you have to pay shipping and handling: https://www.treedazzler.com

Let me know if you have tried this and what do you think.

Anastasia Beverly Hills gloss

Hey all.  I just did a video on these glosses but I thought I would provide you guys the pics that I took after using the glosses.

Am I the only person that is almost off of the matte lipstick train? It’s not like I’ve tried tons but the ones that I have tried have been drying.  I know that this is the nature of the beast (matte = dry) but still, my lips are tired.

I can’t seem to find a matte that doesn’t eventually dry my lips out and I’m assuming that I never will.  I can’t help but think “why am I paying a lot of money to dry my lips out beyond recognition?”

Any who, I went back into my happy drawer and found this set of mini glosses from the ABH Fall Collection that I bought a few months ago.  I always loved the feel and colors and was just wearing them sparingly.

I decided to give my lips some much needed TLC and switch back to glosses for a minute.  Why?, because it’s cold and I just want another layer covering my lips to combat the elements.  I live in Atlanta but it’s still cold in the mornings and after the sun goes down. I just feel like a gloss or creme lipstick is better for your lips in the cold because you aren’t drying them out twice: once from the lippie and second from the weather. Just my opinion.

For all of my Sephora Beauty Insiders and VIBs, the ABH glosses can be purchased at Sephora: http://www.sephora.com/lip-gloss-P404830?skuId=1791730&icid2=products%20grid:p404830http://www.sephora.com/lip-gloss-P404830?skuId=1791730&icid2=products%20grid:p404830

You can still purchase the kit on the ABH website: http://www.anastasiabeverlyhills.com/mini-lip-gloss-set—fall/ABH01-18302.html?cgid=makeup-lips#start=3&cgid=makeup-lips

So here are pictures of me wearing each gloss.  I had worn all except Amber and Carla. I love the creamy consistency.  They all went on smoothly and evenly except Amber, which was the lightest so I wasn’t surprised. Have you worn these? What are your thoughts, fav colors?

Kylie Jenner Lip Kits

Okay, I want to first say that I’m not a Kardashian fan.  I have a hard time wrapping my head around a family of people that are famous just for the sake of being famous.  I know that this sentence can apply to a lot of people nowadays. I will admit I have watched the show here and there over the years –  who hasn’t? But for the most part I try to stay as Kardahsian free as possible.

I will give it to Kris Jenner though, she is a marketing genius.  She is clearly the brains and mastermind behind the multi million dollar industry that is all things Kardashian. So with all of that being said, I have tried to not make them any richer by buying apps, perfumes and stay off of the Kylie Jenner lip kit train.

I love matte lipsticks but the formulation usually leaves your lips as dry as the Sierra Desert. I was a big fan of Colourpop.  They had incredible matte colors but they are soooo drying. I usually have to wear Chapstick underneath to keep my lips from drying out.

I had a conversation with some ladies at work that were talking about the Kylie Jenner Lip Kits (KJLK).  These women were women of color (like me) and they were lightweight obsessed with the line.  One even offered to give the other money to buy the kits because she always seems to be on the ball in being able to buy them as soon as they are released.

In case you have been living under a rock (like a was), these kits sell out in MINUTES and crash the internet every time. I had no idea that the struggle to get the KJLKs was that real. One of the ladies at work showed me the 4 or 5 KJLKs that she just happened to have in her purse.  I was shocked. I told her that I had a hard time spending $30 for a lip gloss and liner but she explained that the quality is top notch.  She also said that they do not dry your lips out and that it last for hours.

I decided to do some research of my own.  So I followed them on Instragram (@kyliecosmetics) and watched a bunch of YouTube videos of how they look on WOM (women of color).  With me being a brown skinned girl, I wanted to see how compatible her shades were.  I was shocked at how a lot of her shades look good on many complexions.  I heard nothing but rave reviews. I discovered that you have to pretty much stalk the Instagram page or have her app to find out when the releases and restocks happen.  You had better be on her site at least 5 minutes before time to buy in order to make a purchase.

So . . . . . I bit the bullet.  Yes, I bought Kourt K, a beautiful plum shade. I will let you know what I think about it after I receive it.

NEWSFLASH:  There is a sale on Monday at 1 pm PST on the Holiday Edition shades. I will be on the computer trying to snag these puppies 5-10 minutes before the sale starts. Wish me luck. Let me know if you have tried these cosmetics and your thoughts. Are they worth the hype? Are they the best and most comfortable mattes ever?

Birthday scents, Sephora mistakes and Scentbird

Hey all,

My birthday was on the 3rd so I wanted to share my new scents that I bought and scents bought for me.  I treated myself to some Scentbird fragrances.

By the way, if you choose to try out Scentbird, I have a link where you can try it for free: https://www.scentbird.com/r/d/patriciajackson6

Did Sephora redeem themselves?  You gotta watch to find out.  Check out my video showing how Sephora almost ruined my scent buying spree: https://youtu.be/F14s6hZ25ps

I’ve been duped . . . Part 2

You know by following me that I posted a video previously where I was duped on some super expensive fragrances: Flowerbomb and Spicebomb.  I had purchased these fragrances from Scent City Perfumery and when I got them, the codes inside the box had been removed.  The fragrances also didn’t smell the same as the originals which were acquired previously through Scentbird.  I told everyone in that video that I would do another video because I had also purchased 2 Juicy Couture fragrances that I was now unsure of their authenticity.

So we fast forward to now and I have bought the authentic scents from Luxury Scent Box (I’m a subscriber).  I bought Viva La Juicy and Viva La Juicy Noir and compared the scents.  Check out the video to see the results of what happened next:

My road to vegetarianism . . . maybe???

Ok, if you follow me on Instagram (@pjacksone) you have seen me posting food lately. What’s the difference in what I’m posting now and what has been posted in the past? It’s a little – no a lot healthier.

I am a self proclaimed Struggling Pescatarian.  For those of you that don’t know what a Pescatarian is, the easiest description is a person that eats like a vegetarian only they include seafood, milk and cheese.  That is the basic definition.  Now there will be those that argue that you are not truly eating like a vegetarian unless you are only eating fruits, nuts and vegetables. I haven’t been in the game long enough to argue the points and specifics and I certainly don’t want to get into a verbal food fight with anyone. I’m not going to say that I haven’t eaten any junk, I have. I’m new, cut me some slack. LOL!

It’s been almost 2 months of no meat except seafood.  This is the longest I have ever gone. This was my 5th attempt at it but with my 50th birthday fast approaching (Nov 3rd), I knew I had to do something about my health and stick to it. I’m not doing this for weight loss.  If I don’t lose a pound, I’m ok, but I have lost a couple of pounds.  Not enough for anyone to notice, but I have noticed a couple of things fitting looser.

I must admit, I went to a friend’s house Saturday and I had not eaten all day (it was noon) and I ate an empenada.  I think there was meat inside.  I was starving and she offered.  I know now that I have to keep healthy snacks in my purse for instances like that. I have selfish reasons for doing this, I’m not hugging trees or running out to save the animals.  If both happens during the journey then that’s a bonus. I just want to be the best me I can be. I just have heard so much about people having diseases because of the meat that we eat and I want to grow old gracefully with minimal health issues.

I have been following some vegetarians and vegans on YouTube and Instagram and I’m just trying to find recipes so I can have more options of what to eat.  I was subscribed to Green Chef but it was so expensive because I was the only one eating it.  Hubby nibbled but I would still have to buy groceries for them so it became to expensive.  I have noticed that if I just make the same meal for me less the meat then it’s more economical.

Last night, they (hubby and son) ordered Papa Johns.  Even though one of the pizzas was cheese, I had my mind made up that I was going to make myself homemade veggie burgers and sweet potato fries.  My featured image is the black bean burgers in the pan.

20161010_174825

I’ve been trying to do smoothies most mornings, it’s quick and easy with frozen fruit.  I was trying to do fresh fruit and frozen fruit but the fresh fruit spoils so quickly.  I don’t have money to throw away so I’ve just been using frozen fruit since last week.

img_20161010_111112

So I say all of this to say, please support me in my efforts.  If you have recipes to share please let me know.  Follow me and I’ll follow you. If you have an Instagram, YouTube, etc to share that will provide more information for me on how to navigate this journey painlessly, then please share.

Lash break: mascara or falsies????

I have been wearing falsies consistently since the beginning of the year. I decided to take a break for about a month but I’ve been missing my lashes (falsies) like crazy. I need all of my Lash-in-nistas to let me know how you got over the hump. Have you taken a break? If so for how long? Are you still wearing your falsies consistently? Do you like my look with falsies or au la naturale (with mascara)?

Here’s my new video on the mascaras I’m currently wearing: https://youtu.be/-_NQQKY2Lps

You can check out my previous videos to see me in lashes: https://youtu.be/ymqiDbUGG_g

BUYER BEWARE: How I got duped by a perfume company and how I got my money back

Well most of you know by now that I LOVE perfume.  Well, I fell for a company that claimed that they sold legitimate fragrances for up to 80% off.  I know, you’re thinking “you fell for that?”.  Yes, I did.  I got burned but I also got vindication.

Check out my video to see what happened:
